Community xmas effort for Barnwell Wards

CHRISTMAS presents rained down on the Barnwell Wards at Kettering General Hospital thanks to the kindness of the local community.

On Christmas Eve Michelle and James Barrow, from the local fundraising group Kettering McQueen, delivered a huge load of presents gifted by individuals and local companies to the wards gathered through the efforts of ward staff and members of the local community.

Community behind Twinkling Stars Appeal

Daredevil skydivers, a comic book superhero and representatives of a trade union have all raised money for the KGH Twinkling Stars Appeal.

The appeal – launched on November 6 - aims to raise £1m to dramatically improve the bereavement facilities at Kettering General Hospital for local families who have suffered the trauma of losing their baby.

Gareth is top in UK and top 1 per cent in world

A cardiac physiologist from Kettering General Hospital has graduated with the highest score in the UK for one exam – and scored in the top 1% in the world in another.

Gareth Mackin, 25, from Little Stanion, has graduated with the highest score in the UK in the Cardiac Scientist Training Program of 2019 and scored in the top 1% in the world for the Allied Professional Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS) exams held by the International Board of Heart Rhythm Exams (IBHRE).

Baby Roadshow helps parents to be

Hundreds of parents-to-be got some help to prepare for their big day and subsequently care for their baby at our pregnancy and baby road show on December 4.

The annual event was held at The Hall@ from 6pm-8pm.

It was led by KGH’s Midwifery Advocates and supported by, health visitors, breast feeding midwives, Sure Start and parentcraft midwives.

Stands included Midwifery Advocates, breast feeding, water birth, Bounty, HypnoBirthing, Pregnancy Yoga Relaxation Classes, Baby Swimming, Sling Library, Hearing Screening, Physiotherapy, Health visitors, First Aid for Babies, Photography, Waterbirth, Placental encapsulation, antenatal classes, physio and Doulas.

Thanks to everyone for attending and to all our staff and local companies for putting on the event.

Denise's amazing year of fundraising for her hospital

A member of staff at Kettering General Hospital has raised an amazing £13,964 for hospital equipment through a year-long fundraising campaign

Translation/Patient Information Officer, Denise Thompson, launched her appeal in January after being touched by the care that loved ones and those close to her have received from the hospital.
