Governor Election Results

The results of the Trust’s Elections to its Council of Governors have now been returned.

Elections were held between September 24 and October 17 with results returned on October 18, 2019.

The Elections were for seats to represent Kettering (1), Corby (3), Wellingborough (1), East Northamptonshire (1) and Rest of UK (1).

Contested seats were:

  • Kettering Constituency – Elected – Gail Chapman.
  • East Northamptonshire Constituency – Elected – Angela Mason

Baby Loss Awareness Week 2019 (October 9-15)

Kettering General Hospital has illuminated its maternity department with pink and blue lights to show its support for Baby Loss Awareness Week 2019 (October 9-15).

The annual awareness week, now in its 17th year, is an opportunity for bereaved parents, families and friends, to commemorate babies’ lives and break the silence around pregnancy and baby loss in the UK.

Kettering General Hospital’s case for an Urgent Care Hub – and for major investment in both the hospital and in Northamptonshire - was highlighted to a Government Health Minister on October 7, 2019.

Health Minister Edward Argar MP visited the hospital to see for himself some of the impact that aging NHS estate is having on patient care

KGH needs an Urgent Care Hub

A&E NHS Providers Urgent Care Hub

Northamptonshire has been cited as a prime example in a national campaign fighting for more capital investment for the NHS.

On Friday (August 30) the national organisation that represents hospital Trusts – NHS Providers – launched a campaign calling on the Government to address the challenge of NHS funding.

KGH is one of the campaign’s cases studies because of concerns that if North Northamptonshire does not attract significant capital investment urgent care patients could be at risk.

Can you join our Organ Donation Committee?

Kettering General Hospital is looking for local people to join its Organ Donation Committee ahead of some major national changes to organ donation.

During national Organ Donation Week (September 2-8) the Trust is actively searching for local supporters in advance of the major change which – from Spring 2020 – will mean that people over 18 will have to opt out of organ donation rather than opt in.

Our work for long stay patients shortlisted for HSJ award

A team from Kettering General Hospital has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for reducing unnecessarily long stays in hospital for patients.

The hospital’s Long Stay Wednesday Team has made it through into the finals of the HSJ Awards 2019 in the Acute or Specialist Service Redesign Initiative category.

Hundreds of NHS and social care organisations enter the awards each year and competition is fierce in all of the award categories.

In August 2018 KGH launched an initiative called Long Stay Wednesday where a team of key senior staff meet with ward teams and partner organisations each week (on a Wednesday) to concentrate on helping long-stay patients to leave hospital.

KGH Governor Elections 2019

Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is holding elections to appoint ten new Governors to help shape its future.

The Trust is looking for local people who want to become Governors to represent their local community and have a say on how healthcare should be provided locally.

As a Foundation Trust Kettering General Hospital has a Trust Board made up of Executive and Non-Executive Directors accountable to a 25-strong Council of Governors who represent the local area.

Postal and email vote elections are being held in August and September 2019.

Meet William - our new £45,000 cardiac echo simulator

Meet William – a new £45,000 state-of-the-art Cardiac Echo Ultrasound Simulator that will give Kettering General Hospital’s physiologists and doctors vital practice in detecting heart problems.

William has been gifted to KGH by a grateful Desborough couple whose £130,000 cardiac equipment legacy will help hundreds of patients each year.
