Kettering General Hospital has completed an £800,000 refurbishment of its short-stay medical assessment unit to help meet the challenges of Winter during the Covid-19 pandemic.
 
Middleton Assessment Unit – also known as MAU – was closed on October 20 with its work taken on by another ward until it reopened for business on December 15.

KGH secure £160,000 worth of state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment

Kettering General Hospital has secured £160,000 worth of state-of-the-art endoscopy equipment to improve its capacity to see patients more quickly.
 
The Trust made a successful bid to purchase additional equipment through the Department of Health and Social Care’s Adapt and Adopt programme developed to help NHS hospitals catch-up on waiting times during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hospital Rebuild Plan

On Monday, November 30 Kettering General Hospital’s Trust Board met to progress plans for rebuilding the hospital site.
 
It looked at a shortlist of options to deliver a hospital rebuild and agreed a preferred option to take forward to the next stage of business planning.
 
The options were drawn together by a team of experts in the field and used an appraisal process was carried out in accordance with HM Treasure guidance.

KGH Plans for the Future

At its next Trust Board on 30 November, KGH Board members are expected to press for additional government funding to enable them to progress plans for a new hospital.
 
On top of £46m for a much-needed urgent care hub, the Trust was delighted to receive an allocation of funds totalling £350m in the Government’s recent commitment to fund capital developments at more than 40 hospitals. Subject to business case approval, the money allocated to KGH will fund notable improvements to the hospital’s aged estate.

"Virtual visiting’ supports families to keep in touch with loved ones

Patients at KGH and NGH are using computer tablets to stay in touch with relatives during the pandemic because of ongoing visiting restrictions in place to keep hospitals safe.
Innovative ‘virtual visiting’ live links at Kettering and Northampton General Hospital are supporting hundreds of local families who can’t visit their loved ones in hospital.
 
And, during the current lockdown, and as Covid-19 cases continue to rise in Northamptonshire, the two hospitals are reminding local people about the different ways we can help people to stay in touch.

KGH achieve a nationally recognised award

Kettering General Hospital has achieved a nationally recognised – and difficult to achieve - quality standard for the way it collects information about joint replacement surgery.
 
It has been awarded the National Joint Registry (NJR) Quality Data Provider award for the scrupulous way in which it gathers and submits information to support a national safety system for joint replacements.
