New outdoor gym at KGH thanks to Captain Sir Tom

Hospital gym opens
Kettering General Hospital opened a new outdoor gym for staff on September 8, thanks to funds raised by Captain Sir Tom Moore and NHS Charities Together. 
 
So far the Trust has received a total of £269,600 from NHS Charities Together supporting a variety of initiatives throughout the pandemic.
 
In addition to the 12-station outdoor gym – located in the hospital’s Pocket Park - these have included our “We Care” staff welfare programme which includes a free staff café, Open Office and Out of Office service

Join our amazing hospital volunteers

Kettering General Hospital aims to double its volunteer workforce and develop a wide range of exciting new posts for people of all ages over the next few months.

To mark the start of the new recruitment campaign some of our existing 140 active volunteers are pictured wearing a bright new red polo neck uniform with KGH Volunteers written on it.

Our ambition - working closely with Northampton General Hospital – is to create one of the largest volunteer forces in the NHS that is representative of our local community.

KGH first hospital in the UK to adopt a new state-of-the-art imaging and biopsy system for suspected breast cancer patients

Kettering General Hospital has become the first hospital in the UK to adopt a new state-of-the-art imaging and biopsy system which will improve care and reduce delays for suspected breast cancer patients in Northamptonshire.
 
The Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography Biopsy system enables women with breast lesions that would normally need highly specialised MRI biopsies (available only in specialist centres) to have their biopsy right away in a 10-minute procedure at KGH.

Stay away from the county’s A&E departments unless you are seriously ill

That’s the strong message from Northampton and Kettering General Hospitals as the number of people attending A&E – particularly young people with minor complaints – continues to rise.
 
Northampton General Hospital’s Chief Operating Officer Jo Fawcus said: “We are continuing to see hundreds of people attending the two A&E departments at Northampton and Kettering each day – a significant number of them with relatively minor problems.

Changes to Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals emergency Ear, Nose and Throat service

From 14th July Kettering and Northampton General Hospitals are changing the way we deliver emergency Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) care for our patients. The service change is the first programme of collaborative work between our two hospitals since they became the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group on July 1, 2021.

Construction starts on the new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at KGH

Construction has started on the brand new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Kettering General Hospital which will transform care for people living with cancer in the region.
 
The centre – the first in North Northamptonshire - will bring a range of vital cancer support services together under one roof. As well as providing information on all aspects of cancer, emotional and psychological support, the centre will provide welfare benefits advice, wig fitting and signpost to other local services.

KGH Governors showcase public engagement at national event

KGH Governors have showcased some amazing work they have done during the pandemic at a prestigious national event held this week.
 
Our Governors were shortlisted to present examples of some of the exemplary awareness work they had done with the Northamptonshire Telegraph at the NHS Providers Governor Focus virtual conference which took place on July 6-8.
