University Hospitals of Northamptonshire NHS Group (UHN) – which runs Kettering and Northampton general hospitals - is celebrating after an announcement that its key research partner has been awarded £4.1m

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Leicester Clinical Research Facility (CRF) - based at University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) NHS Trust - has been awarded the funding over the next five years to carry out early phase clinical research.

The NIHR Leicester Clinical Research Facility is one of just 28 CRFs that have been funded in England to expand early phase clinical research delivery in NHS hospitals.

Health Minister visits KGH and NGH

Health Minister Edward Argar visited Kettering and Northampton general hospitals last week (Thursday, February 17) to look at the challenges we face in our current hospital estate.

He was invited to visit our hospitals during a Parliamentary debate earlier this month by Kettering MP Philip Hollobone and Northampton South MP Andrew Lewer.

Both of our local MPs are supporting further investment in our two sites to enable us to better support our patients given our rising local population and demand.

Army support at KGH and NGH was fantastic

The Army has been thanked by Kettering and Northampton general hospitals (KGH and NGH) for the valuable support they have provided for front-line staff during the Omicron wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

From January 18-February 10 a total of 14 soldiers from 3rd Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS 3 The Black Watch) and The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (SCOTS DG) worked across the two Trusts.
