Paediatric (Children's) Emergency Department
The Paediatric (Children’s) Emergency Department treats children and young people under the age of 18 who need accident or emergency care.
The Paediatric Emergency Department enables our staff to meet the needs of our patients while ensuring children and young people, up to the age of 18, are seen in a physically separate environment from the main Emergency Department.
All patients are clinically assessed upon arrival and seen in priority order based on clinical need.
The Paediatric Emergency Department enables a direct route onto Skylark Ward for those children and young people needing hospital admission.
Paediatric Emergency Department is based on the ground floor of the hospital opposite Main / Adult Emergency Department, in the area that was formerly occupied by Adult Medical Same Day Emergency Care.
