Change to parking - Building our new energy centre

We are working hard to transform our site to ensure our facilities are outstanding for both visitors and colleagues.

The first step will be the construction of our new energy centre which will make a significant contribution towards the hospital’s ambition to achieve net carbon zero status by 2040.

These works, which begin in May 2024, are taking place at the bottom of the hospital site and we will need to dig up parts of Car Park D to move essential utility pipes. As a result, we will move some visitor and staff parking spaces to other car parks.

Visitor car parking spaces will not be reduced but some spaces will be move to other car parks. To create space, we are moving some staff parking off site. 

 Some of these changes and the construction works may cause increased traffic on site. We are working hard to minimise the level of disruption caused and ensure we maintain the same provision for patient and visitor parking.

Car Parking Information

A drop off/pickup point can be found in Car Park A. You can go into the car park and exit the car park within 15 minutes the barrier will raise, and you will not be charged.  If you are in the car park longer than 15 minutes, you will be charged the appropriate fee.
 
In an emergency or exceptional circumstances, such as where a patient has very limited mobility, drivers may drop-off directly outside the Outpatients Department using the emergency vehicle access route then go and park.
 
Car Park A disabled car parking spaces only.  Once parked, please take your valid Blue Badge to the Car Park Office and advise them of your registration number. You will then receive free parking for the duration of the stay.
 
A specific motorcycle bay is located in Car Park A, with parking for 5 motorcycles, you will receive free parking.

Car Park B and Others

Car Park B (Height Restriction 2.1m). has 4 Blue Badge spaces, 221 spaces on the lower deck. The upper deck is for staff with parking permits only.
Here’s how it works:
When arriving at car park B your car registration number is captured automatically. When you leave the car park you need to enter your registration number before paying at the paying station.
1. As you approach the entrance of the car park, the barrier will raise automatically, and your registration number will be read
2. Park your vehicle as usual
3. When you are ready to leave, please pay at one of the pay stations by entering your registration number and following the on-screen instructions. You can pay by cash or card (including contactless)
4. Please return to your car immediately and proceed to the exit
5. The exit barrier will automatically raise once your registration number and payment has been verified.
 
Other Car Parks are available in the Treatment Centre, spaces adjacent to Rothwell Road which are Pay & Display parking.
 
In front on Rockingham Wing there is a 30 minute drop off area

Concessions

Complex Treatment

If attending Lilford Ward, Centenary Wing or Chemotherapy Supportive Treatment Unit (CSSTU) for complex treatment,please discuss with the ward clark.  Collect a concessionary slip and take it to the Car Park Office in Car Park A to claim a concessionary charge.

Frequent Treatment

If attending Outpatients or Day Case for frequent treatments in a 7 day period, a weekly concessionary ticket can be purchased at Car Park A.  It will cost £12 upon production of a ward or departmental confirmation.
 

Long Inpatient Stays

If a patient is expected to have a stay of 7 or more days, a weekly concessionary ticket can be purchased at Car Park A.  It will cost £12 upon production of a ward or departmental confirmation.
